UNIZULU Continues to Empower Life Orientation Teachers Through its Annual Seminar
The University of Zululand (UNIZULU) recently held its highly anticipated 3rd Annual Teachers Seminar at the UNIZULU Science Centre. Organised by the Communication and Marketing Division (CMD), the event brought together Life Orientation (LO) teachers from the King Cetshwayo District (KCD), creating a platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and inspiration.
This seminar was born out of the recognition that there was insufficient career guidance in schools, and it therefore aimed to address this gap by equipping LO teachers with knowledge of the plethora of UNIZULU academic programmes, their entry requirements and the possible places of employment once graduates receive their qualifications. It also sought to motivate LO teachers by affirming their importance in the education system. The event not only provided valuable insights and resources but also fostered a sense of pride and purpose among the attendees.
Among the esteemed guests was Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Teaching and Learning Professor Vuyokazi Nomlomo, who emphasised the critical role of Life Orientation teachers in shaping the future of learners. Her opening remarks set the tone for the day, highlighting the importance of career guidance and the need for LO teachers to be equipped with the latest information and tools to support their students effectively.
