UNIZULU’s Library Services Department Commended for 100% Compliance on Performance Management

UNIZULU’s Human Resources Division recently held an event in the Library to recognise all library staff members for their contribution in ensuring that a 100% performance assessments submission rate was achieved.

In 2018, UNIZULU’s Human Resources Division launched Project Blue Sky. One of the objectives of this change management intervention was to increase the level of understanding and compliance with Performance Management System. At the conclusion of the exercise HR was interested to determine which department submitted all performance assessments by the deadline date. Library was the first Division to achieve 100% submission of their 2018 performance assessments. Over and above this achievement the Library was also the first Division to submit all their 2019 performance agreements and 2019 mid-year reviews.

According to Mrs Lwazi Kleinbooi, Manager: Organisational Development, since introduction of the performance management system the library staff have been proactive and consistent in submitting performance documents on time.  As such, the University wanted to show its appreciation to the Library management and staff for their commitment to the process.

Ms Kleinbooi applauded the Library staff for being proactive, which is one The 7 habits of highly effective people (Stephen Covey).

She also urged staff members to continue to conduct critical discussions and honest self-assessments which are vital for their growth in the institution.

She continued and reminded all university staff to be mindful of the fact that, although this process is crucial for the success of the University, it is equally beneficial for their own learning and self-development, therefore, needed it has to be undertaken with the utmost positive attitude.

On behalf of UNIZULU library staff, Laila Vahed, Director of UNIZULU Library Services, expressed her appreciation for her team’s recognition of hard work. She urged colleagues from other departments to also comply with this process so that the entire university can grow and become a leading comprehensive university providing quality education.
