The 2nd International Interdisciplinary Conference.
The University of Zululand (UNIZULU), Department of English held a 2nd International Interdisciplinary Conference which ran from Wednesday, 20 November to Thursday, 21 November 2024. The conference was dedicated to language, disciplinarity, and knowledge production in South Africa with an aim to explore the intricate relationships between language, academics disciplines, and the processes through which knowledge is created, shared and transformed in contemporary and most importantly in African contexts.
As the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Professor Allucia Shokane took charge, officially opening the conference and made her welcoming remarks. “Legalization is not just about politics, it’s also about culture, it’s also about language and it’s also about knowledge,” said Prof Shokane. She added that” it’s important that we need to break down the barriers between discipline and encourage interdisciplinary approaches to understanding Africa and South Africa specifically.” She urged her colleagues to focus on the issues of knowledge production.
