Renowned Hydrologist Delivers Keynote talk at University of Zululand

The Department of Hydrology at the University of Zululand recently hosted a keynote talk by distinguished Professor Brijesh Yadav from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. This Keynote talk was hosted on the main campus Kwa-Dlangezwa Research Boardroom.  Prof. Yadav’s visit marked his first time in South Africa, and he was visibly impressed by the country’s breathtaking beauty

Professor Brijesh Kumar Yadav, currently Head of the Department of Hydrology at IIT Roorkee, is a renowned expert in hydrogeology, soil-water remediation, and environmental modelling. His research focuses on topics such as bioremediation, vadose zone modelling, phytoremediation, and CO₂ sequestrationusing tools like MODFLOW and HYDRUS. He has held prestigious positions, including Ramanujan Fellow (2011) and Institute

Advanced Study Fellow (2018)at Loughborough University, UK. His international experience includes postdoctoral research at UC Davis, University of Utrecht, and UNESCO-IHE Delft. Professor Yadav’s work continues to advance global water science and sustainable environmental practices.

Prof. Yadav’s presentation, titled “Soil Water and Contaminants Fate/Transport under Varying Environmental Conditions,” delved into the intricacies of hydrological processes and their impact on soil and water quality.

His insightful talk shed light on the complex interactions between environmental factors, contaminants, and soil-water systems.

The audience, comprising students, academics, and researchers, engaged actively with Prof. Yadav’s presentation, asking pertinent questions and sparking a lively discussion. The Q&A session provided a valuable opportunity for students to interact with Prof. Yadav, seeking guidance on their ongoing research projects and exploring potential collaborations.
