During the process of enrolling for the 2026 academic year, Sanelisiwe Mabaso stood out at the University of Zululand’s (UNIZULU) Faculty of Commerce, Accounting and Law (FCAL) as she was one of the first students to register in the faculty.
Mabaso, a determined and ambitious young woman from Pinetown in Durban, steps into university life with a clear vision of the future she wants to build, one rooted in curiosity, leadership, and a passion for the legal profession. Entering the environment of higher education is a giant leap, and for Mabaso, selecting the right institution was crucial. After considering several universities, she found her perfect academic home at UNIZULU.
“I chose UNIZULU for its strong reputation, especially in [the commerce, administration and law disciplines], and its commitment to student success,” she explained.
She was drawn to the University’s balance of strong academics, supportive learning structures, and vibrant campus life, all of which made it stand out from her other options. For a driven student seeking both challenge and community, UNIZULU offered the ideal blend.
Mabaso is registered for the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) programme, an academic path she has been eager to pursue.
“I am passionate about Bachelor of Laws, and this programme aligns with my interests and strengths.”
She sees her qualification not just as a degree, but a foundation for meaningful influence in the business world and beyond. The analytical, ethical, and professional skills she will gain are key to her long‑term goals of making a positive contribution to society.
The LLB, she believes, will equip her with the knowledge, discipline, and confidence needed to excel in her career and advocate for fairness and justice.
Walking onto campus as a first-time entering new student (FTENS) can be overwhelming for many, but for Mabaso, it was a moment filled with both excitement and determination.
“Being first to register says I am proactive, ambitious, and eager to pave my own path.”
Registering early reflects her commitment to starting strong and making the most of every opportunity that comes her way. Though the journey ahead may present challenges, she is prepared to face any obstacle life may present to her.
“Registering felt exciting and a bit daunting, but I am ready for the challenge,” she assured.
Mabaso views her new chapter at UNIZULU as the beginning of personal and academic transformation. “Being a UNIZULU student means embracing growth, opportunities, and shaping my future.”
With her drive, curiosity, and unwavering focus, she is poised to make her mark not only within FCAL but in the broader South African legal and business landscape.
