UNIZULU welcomes the newly appointed Director: Financial Services

The University of Zululand is proud to welcome its recently appointed Director: Financial Services, Mr. Khabiso Madlala. He is in possession of B. Compt (Honours) qualification, and is a registered Chartered Accountant, CA (SA).

Mr Madlala has acquired extensive finance experience both in the private and public sector. He joined the University of Zululand as from the 1st of July 2019. He is responsible for the implementation of the strategic and operational plan of the Directorate, mainly contributing to the improvement of the financial sustainability of the University and improving internal financial controls.

After completing his articles with the Auditor General of South Africa (AGSA), he specialised in management consulting in the public sector and was involved in various key projects such as municipal support programme, annual financial statements support and internal audit projects. He worked for eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, in the internal control division and was responsible for critical financial controls for the Metropolitan and its entities and later he was seconded to uShaka Marine World, a subsidiary of eThekwini Municipality as an interim Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to joining UNIZULU, he worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as a Senior Manager in the Finance and Accounting Division, there he led a team of professionals and provided strategic and operational management support to his clients in relation to audit, annual financial statements (IFRS and GRAP) preparation, revenue enhancement strategies, internal controls improvement, risk management, internal audits, corporate governance and performance management. Mr Madlala strongly believes in getting things done and describes himself as a result driven individual who uses jazz style type of leadership to get results.

Mr Madlala is a family oriented person and he mentions, e-gaming and swimming as his favourite hobbies.
