The UNIZULU soccer team will, this weekend, play what is arguably its most important match so far when it takes on Milford FC in the last 32 Nedbank Cup qualifiers. A win for the University would mean that, for the first time in its history it would make reach the last 32 of the prestigious competition which is also contested by the top PSL and National First Division clubs.
The match against Milford FC will kick-off at 15h00 on Sunday at the University Sportgrounds at the KwaDlangezwa Campus and entry is free. UNIZULU Team manager, Mdu Mkhwanazi urged all the supporters and members of the University Community to come and rally behind the players on Sunday. He said the players were upbeat about the match and added that they were looking forward to winning the all-important match. “We aim to win this game dark or blue. We appeal to all our fans to come and witness history in the making for the team,” Mkhwanazi said. To make it to this stage, the UNIZULU team has had to beat the likes of Heroes F.C, Lillies F.C, Juventus F.C, Golden Chiefs, Zone 14 F.C, uMhlathuze F.C, Rovers F.C, Dynamos F.C, and Cheaters F.C.
