The University of Zululand received R500 000 funding sponsorship from ABSA Bank towards the hosting of the upcoming Management, Business, Administration and Legal Initiatives (MBALI) International Conference, which is scheduled to take place from 1- 3 August 2018.
Deputy Dean for Research and Internationalisation in the Faculty of Commerce Administration and Law, Professor Irrshad Kaseeram said “On behalf of the University, I thank Absa for this contribution, this is the second time they have funded us with amount. This funding will go towards hosting the international conference. It is one of the endeavours which will improve the quality of our research and the quality that we try and maintain in terms of international standards”
Through this cash injection boost from Absa the students and staff will be able to engage in high quality research, this will assist in promoting research capacity development by exposing researchers to the national and international research terrain. This will put the University on the national and international map as a research focused institution.
ABSA’s Head of Public Sector and Enterprise Business, Sithembiso Cele said the main aim is to support students from previously disadvantaged communities. Cele said that Absa has a responsibility for the youth to position young people in an appropriate trajectory to claim to their economy.
