The James Nxumalo Education Trust in conjunction with the University of Zululand has donated school uniforms to Khangisa and Mantshangula primary schools in KwaDlangezwa.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, UNIZULU Vice Chancellor and Trustee; Professor Fikile NM Mazibuko encouraged learners to study hard so that they reach tertiary level. “We want to assist you in any way we can so that you can achieve all that you desire. We are all equal and therefore can triumph against anything,” said Professor Mazibuko.

Khangisa’s grade four pupil, Sthembile Mathenjwa thanked the Trust and UNIZULU. “I’m very happy that I won’t feel much of the cold this winter as I have these new shoes,” she said.

The Education Trust is an initiative of eThekwini Mayor, James Nxumalo. Launched in 2012 it aims to assist students and leaners from disadvantaged families within KwaZulu-Natal to further their studies and assists with school uniforms and other forms of learning and school materials.

The Trust Trustees include eThekwini Mayor, James Nxumalo; Professor Fikile Mazibuko; Fortress of Hope Church International’s Bishop Mchunu and Durban Chamber of Commerce former President, Thato Tsautse.
