THE University of Zululand recently held the Higher Education Facilities Management of Southern Africa (HEFMA) conference which was a huge success. Held at the Protea Waterfront Hotel from 12-16 October, the conference saw hundreds of delegates descending to the Bay to discuss issues of facilities management within universities.
UNIZULU’s Executive Director: Infrastructure and Facilities Planning Petrus Lombaard said presentations were of a very high standard and the interaction by the delegates indicated that the topics were relevant. “The venue at Protea Waterfront was also very conducive and appropriate to host a conference of this nature,” said Lombaard. He also said that the conference was not only attended by delegates from South African Universities but also by delegates from Australia, UK, USA, West Indies, Botswana and Lesotho.
The theme for the HEFMA 2015 conference was: “Facilities Management as the Key to Sustaining Institutions of Higher Learning for the Future”
Lombaard thanked the Management of UNIZULU for assistance in hosting the conference. “It also would not be possible to finalise all the arrangements had it not been for assistance by the EXCO of HEFMA. Also thanks to LazAir for their sponsorship of the conference bags.”
