Students Tells Us Why They Chose UNIZULU

For many first-year students, securing space at the university of their choice is a monumental first step in securing a bright future.

For returning students, this is an ongoing journey of personal and professional growth. Journalists from the Communications and Marketing Department at UNIZULU spoke to various students to find out why they chose to study at the University (of Zululand).

Olwethu Sibiya, second-year student in Logistics Management

“I chose to study at UNIZULU because it was the only university that has a solid reputation in terms of the offering of the Diploma in Logistics Management. I also chose this qualification because it’s relatively new with less competition in the market”.

Hloniphani Xulu, Master’s in Development Studies student

“I decided to study at UNIZULU because I wanted to contribute positively to the development of my community. I’m doing my Master’s in Development Studies which I’m very happy about because it provides me with the opportunity to assist in growing our local economy”.

Sinalo Mthethwa, first-year student in Nursing Science

“I have a passion for helping others; particularly people with health problems. On my own, I cannot do anything to alleviate their pain but with this degree, I will gain the necessary skills required to give them (people with health problems) the proper care that they deserve”.

Thabiso Sibisi, first-year student in Environmental Planning and Development

“I really love nature and I believe in preserving it for future generations. So when I found out that UNIZULU offers a degree in Environmental Planning and Development, I was really happy”.

Ntombifuthi Mbatha, first-year student in Media Studies

“My role model is uKhozi FM’s Selby Mkhize who really inspired me to pursue a diploma in Media Studies. I hope that one day I can be as successful and influential as he is”.
