Having started her academic career as a specialist on romantic poetry, Prof Catherine Addison’s main focus of research at the moment is the verse novel, both in its Victorian and its contemporary manifestations. She has secondary interests in contemporary African women’s fiction and the romantic woman warrior and has published on Byron, Shelley, Spenser, Mitford, Crane, Southey and many other Medieval, Renaissance, Romantic, Victorian and Modernist writers, as well as formal aspects of literature such as prosody, narrative, simile, irony, and stanza form.
