About us

In line with the University’s vision and mission, the Kumba Resources Chair in Integrated Rural Development was established in July 2004 with a funding from Kumba Resources Limited on a three-year contract. The main purpose of the Chair is to improve the socio-economic environmental of rural communities through an inter-disciplinary approach to offer relevant academic, research and outreach programmes. Furthermore, the Chair is expected to work in collaboration with partners in the private and public sector, non-governmental organisations, labour and community-based organisations.
