AGE has not been an obstacle for Vusani Dlamini. The determined 47-year-old from Port Shepstone graduated with a Bachelor of Education (B Ed) and he now works as an educator in his home town.
Dlamini says the long journey to qualify took him from 2010 until 2013. “It was not easy but I made sure that I concentrated on my books and avoided other things. That worked for me. Tutorials also helped a lot during my studies,” he said.
Dlamini added that nothing can stop you if you have vision and bravery. He further says his lecturer, Dr NE Khuzwayo, played a fundamental role in his life.
He says she always encouraged and motivated him that age must not limit his objectives. He believes that complaining about life does not work for anyone. “You need to get things done through hard work and perseverance,” he says.
Dlamini was motivated by former South African President Nelson Mandela’s emphasis on the importance of education. “Educating teachers is enlightening the whole nation,” he said.
