Mari Lee Visser is one of the four UNIZULU players who have been selected into the KZN Coastal team.

Four UNIZULU hockey players have been selected to the KZN coastal team, following an intense round of trials held in May 2015 at Glenwood, Durban.

The players are: Mari-lee Visser, Isabel Mkhabela who play for the UNIZULU female hockey team and their male counterparts Warren Van Der Merwe and Mthokozisi Nkosi.

The selection of Visser and Mkhabela into the provincial team has been hailed as history in the making as this is the first time that UNIZULU female students are selected to the provincial squad.

Also this represents the highest number of players that the University has ever had in the provincial team.

Four other players were selected for the reserves, meaning that if any of the selected players for some reason cannot make it to the tour then the reserves can be called to join the team, replacing who ever cannot make it.

The tour for the male provincial team will be in Limpopo between 4 and 12 July, while the ladies’ team will be in Port Elizabeth from 14 to 19 July.
