sciences and to disseminate it through publications, teaching and development, in partnership with the community and other constituencies.
INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW
The Faculty of Science and Agriculture, herein called the Faculty, is one of four Faculties at the University of Zululand. It consists of thirteen academic departments and a Science Access Department:
Members of the Department are pursuing research in hydrogeology, environmental hydrology, remote sensing and GIS, hydrological modelling and water resource management. The Department is being funded by various private and government agencies to carry out advanced research in various fields of hydrology that has direct bearing on community development in South Africa. Current research activities include water resource management, agricultural water balance, irrigation schemes and managing agricultural productivity, potable drinking water supply, proper utilization of water resources, development of water resources and management.
