Ex-security guard now a teacher

A FORMER University of Zululand (UNIZULU) security guard, who turned maths and science teacher, has encouraged people to set goals and to see them through.

Philangenkosi Nsele from Manzibomvu Reserve in Mbazwana, northern KwaZulu-Natal, dreamt of studying to better his life.

“I had been reading many books and I finally decided that I did not want to read for fun anymore so I decided to study for a Bachelor of Education degree. It was tough at first, but I persevered because I knew where I wanted to be and I felt it deep inside me, therefore I manned up to the challenge,” said Nsele.

He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and now teaches maths and science to grades 10, 11 and 12 at Mavela High School in Jozini.

He thanked UNIZULU for having granted him the opportunity to study, especially the Education Faculty which he said had been extremely supportive.
