NSFAS ALLOWANCES UPDATE

NSFAS ALLOWANCES UPDATE

In 2019 all NSFAS allowances (including book/device allowances) will be paid into the chosen bank accounts of students as per NSFAS guideline. There will be no allowances on the pockets in the FUNDI cards this year and students are required (according to the NSFAS guideline) to manage their own cash flows and expenses.

FUNDI will be used to facilitate the payments into the bank accounts of students as in the past. The University successfully negotiated the bank charges that will be charged and deducted by FUNDI to be R15.00 per transaction/payment. Banking details will have to be uploaded by each student on the secure FUNDI portal before FUNDI will be able to pay the allowances.

Students are encouraged to ensure that their bank account details are correct by logging into the FUNDI portal. Students who have not uploaded banking details in the past will have to upload banking details before any payments can be made by FUNDI.

The first disbursement of a R5 000 allowance will be made on Friday, 8 February 2019 to NSFAS approved students. This is the book/device allowance for 2019. The meal and transport allowances will be finalised after registration and residence placement are finalised and will be disbursed soon thereafter. Students are encouraged to plan their cash flow needs as books/devices will have to be paid for in cash from the outlet of choice of the student.

Disbursement of allowances from other sponsors and donors will be done in due course as sponsors confirm. Please visit the Financial Aid office for any queries.

Issued on behalf of University of Zululand Management
