Ntom’fikile Mazibuko
Rector and Vice-Chancellor
University of Zululand
Prof. Fikile Mazibuko is the sixth Rector and Vice-Chancellor
of the University of Zululand. She is the second woman to
hold this position at the University of Zululand.

Professor Mazibuko was the previous Deputy Vice-Chancellor &
Head of College of Humanities at the University of KwaZulu-Natal
(UKZN) and a holder of a distinguished Alumni award at Jane Addams
College of Social Work. As an Alumnus of UNIZULU and a previous
member of Council at UNIZULU, she brings a massive knowledge about
the institution with added interest in humanities, especially
in domestic violence and HIV/AIDS. Her academic achievements were
further obtained internationally.
Her choice of the institution and acceptance of the appointment
bear testimony as a Social Work specialist. Mazibuko’s community
engagement is characterised by promoting and initiating programmes
that are developmental and responsive to the needs of local communities
and put in practice skills and models of interventions acquired
through professional training by participating in programmes that
advance and popularise education amongst young South Africans.
